2024 Ottawa Iaido Taikai
Date
Saturday, July 13
第4回オタワ居合道大会
Welcome to the 4th Annual Ottawa Iaido Taikai (OIT)!
The OIT is a young event aimed to nurture the growing population of iaidoka in Ottawa, Montreal, and across this region.
This 2025 edition will bring back the inclusion of Koryu into the kata allotment, with competitors 2-Dan and above being able to select two or more kata from their traditional lineage in conjunction with shitei-waza from the Zen Ken Ren Iai. We hope to see exciting demonstrations of iaido at this event
Open to ALL ranks -- but focused on giving mudansha an opportunity to try competition and 3-4 Dan experience as shinpan (judges) -- participants are expected to participate and contribute in all aspects of the event, including court management and event organization.
We are pleased to present the OIT in partnership with the
Canadian Kendo Federation and
Team Canada Iaido, which will utilize the official regulations for iaido competition as established by the
All Japan Kendo Federation.
** This event will also serve as preparation for the
North American Partnership Event in August in Vancouver **
