We are pleased to announce a Great Lakes Iaido Coalition (GLIC) Iaido Fall Seminar and Shinsa!

Friday, October 25th:
9:00am - 4:30pm Seminar (with 1hr lunch break)

Saturday, October 26th:
9:00am - 4:30pm Seminar (with 1hr lunch break, Shinsa in the morning)

KODANSHA EVENT

Sunday, October 27th:
There will be a Kodansha Class (4 Dan and up) taught by Sekreta Sensei

Description:

  • This is a large indoor athletic facility located on Pinnacle Drive, which is located off of Phillips Road.
  • The practice space is the "Yoga Room" located on the second floor.
  • There is ample parking.
  • There are locker rooms, which are located on the first floor. The locker rooms have several stall showers.

  • For reference, this is about 20-25 minutes by car from the Pieters Family Life Center.
    Times:
  • Doors open at 8:30a, Class from 9:00a-1:00a
    Note:
  • No outside food or drinks (besides water) are permitted in the facility.

    LUNCH AND REFRESHMENTS

  • Bottled water/tea will be available and is included with the seminar fee.
  • Lunch & snacks (Both Days) are included in the seminar fee and will be provided

    Friday, October 25th:
    There will be GLIC Celebration Dinner after Friday seminar. Dinner is extra and not included with the seminar fee.

    Please use PayPal (Friends and Family) or via Zelle (US Bank to Bank payment service) as the primary payment method for the Seminar and Shinsa fees

    The Menjo fee must be on a separate check and will be returned or destroyed if needed.
    Shinsa fee, Menjo check and Shinsa answers must be received by Wednesday, October 9th.
    The mailing address for checks and Shinsa answers will be provided after you register.

    SEMINAR

    There will be a seminar on Friday and Saturday (Open to all Kyu and Dan ranks).

    Seminar fee:

    $140 USD (For Both Days)
    $90 USD for one day (Friday or Saturday)

    IAIDO SHINSA

    An AEUSKF promotion test will be held Saturday, October, 26.

    Examination up to 1st Dan (Shodan) will be available to seminar participants who attend both Friday and Saturday.

    Shinsa fee:

    $30 payable by Zelle or check, included in the seminar payment.
    Menjo fee:
    A separate check, payable to "Takanori Furuta" in the amount indicated below, should be submitted. If the candidate does not pass, the check will be destroyed.
    Kyu under 18 : $20
    Kyu over 18 : $30
    1 dan : $50

    NEW APPROVAL PROCESS FOR SHINSA: All permissions and shinsa questions should be submitted by email

    If you are a member of GNEUSKF, AEUSKF or EUSKF you do not need to provide the signature or confirming email from your Federation president.

    Non-AUSKF members must be a member of a Kendo Federation recognized by the International Kendo Federation, and must have written permission from their country’s Kendo Federation President.

    Members of other Federations will need to provide a signature or email showing that your Federation president is aware of, and approves of, your testing at this event.

    If you do not sit in sieza, and you have previously provided a doctor's note, it is not necessary to provide another. You do need to let us know if you cannot sit in seiza, so that we can provide standing-only kata for you.

    SUNDAY MORNING KODANSHA KEIKO:

    There will be a Kodansha event on Sunday, October 27 in the morning.
